A DDoS attack occurred at 16:02:26 directly against Edge12 and was mitigated by 16:05:13. We'll be issuing an more detailed incident summary in the next few days, however we note that the upgrades recently communicated that will be in place by next week would have fully absorbed this attack.

LINX port dropout
LINX have confirmed that these link flaps where caused by an engineer working on other nearby circuits. They have apologised for the unintended momentary disruptions to our circuit. While such cases of human error are rare by our suppliers we are investigating options to further mitigate any similar incidents in the future.

Enta has confirmed that the issue has been fully resolved and is okay to enable Enta partial transit. We are delighted to confirm that UKPN have concluded testing of the repaired cable, executed the switching works and we are now back to normal operating parameters, while of course maintaining our proud 100% uptime record since go-live in 2011. We have asked UKPN for a report on the incident, though, unfortunately the utility companies do not operate on contracted response times for reporting, so whilst we will endeavor to obtain this information as soon as possible we are not able to commit to a publishing date at this time. Failure of Edge 2
Please find below the interim incident report: Incident started at 12:30:16 Incident ended at 12:39:33 Incident type: DDoS attack Our monitors picked up that Edge 2 was not responding as expected and was dropping traffic, an on-site network engineer was dispatched to investigate the issue. On analysis it appeared that the issue was not with the edge switch itself, but with a targeted DDoS attack that had avoided detection by our systems. Once this was apparent we enabled DDoS mitigation for the relevant end server restoring the edge switch to full service. We are currently reviewing our DDoS monitoring with a view to updating it to automatically catch this new style of attack.

Enfield Datacentre operating on generators
We can confirm that we successfully and seamlessly transferred back to the mains supply as planned. We are continuing to monitor to ensure integrity and we will issue a report as to the cause and remedial action once UK Power Networks respond. I would like to reiterate at this point that the decision to switch to generators was precautionary, and trust this did not cause undue concern to you.
